Charity Reviews
Schizophrenia and Related Disorders Alliance of America (SARDAA)

SARDAA is a charity that promotes improvement among the lives of those affected with schizophrenia and other related diseases and their families. I wouldn't recommend this charity, because according to Charity Navigator, the organization isn't eligible to meet their criteria due to it's inability to meet at least $1 million dollars in revenue; meaning, the charity is smaller and in need of more funds. The asset amount of this charity is approximately $518,909. Charity Navigator doesn't provide the information on how much money goes into donation toward those whom the cause complies to. SARDAA is an independent organization that depends on it's income versus most public organizations which rely on taxes and funding from the state. The services that SARDAA provides includes advocacy and information, and self help/peer support for individuals diagnosed and their loved ones.
Mental Health America

Mental Health America (MHA) is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to helping all people live mentally healthier lives. According to Charity Navigator (MHA on Charity Navigator) MHA has a score of 89.68%. This means that out of 100% MHA is 89.68% reliable and worth your money. 77.4% of the money MHA has goes to the services it provides. 11.9% of the income is put toward advertising expenses, and 10.6% goes to administrative expenses. This charity has a great philosophy when it comes to treating mental health; B4Stage4 is a philosophy that stands for treating mental health before it gets too serious. Although this charity only uses 77.4% of the income to provide services, it is still a great option for anyone looking to donate to mental health; however, if someone was looking for a organization that was completely focused on Schizophrenia I would not recommend Mental Health America

National Alliance on Mental Illness

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is the nation's largest grassroots organization for people with mental illness and their families. I would invest and donate to this charity. Although its overall rating is a 86.98%, it has a 100% in accountability & transparency. According to the Better Business Bureau (BBB), it also meets all the standards in the categories: Governance, finances, fund raising & info, and effectiveness. Their total revenue adds up to be $10,382,727, and their total net assets add up to be $9,911,238. In addition, the Executive Director, Mary Giliberti's compensation is only $182,945 (1.61% of all expenses), meaning that they are used their money more toward the organization that toward making the staff rich. The only down side to its reviews is that only 74.1% of the charity’s total expenses spent on the programs, which makes me wonder what they are using the rest of the donations for. Nevertheless, this organization is perfect for those with schizophrenia and their families because its purpose is to provide support, education, and raise awareness about different mental disorders, and I believe that it can truly help them cope and handle their illness.
